It is He who sends down to you out of heaven water of which you have to drink, and of which trees, for you to pasture your herds, 10 He groweth for you thereby the corn and olives and date-palms and grapes and all kinds of fruit. Verily therein is a sign for a people who ponder. 11 And He has made the night and the day and the sun and the moon subservient [to His laws, so that they be of use] to you; and all the stars are subservient to His command: in this, behold, there are messages indeed for people who use their reason! 12 And [He has subjected] whatever He multiplied for you on the earth of varying colors. Indeed in that is a sign for a people who remember. 13 And He it is Who hath constrained the sea to be of service that ye eat fresh meat from thence, and bring forth from thence ornaments which ye wear. And thou seest the ships ploughing it that ye (mankind) may seek of His bounty and that haply ye may give thanks. 14 And He has cast great mountains in the earth lest it might be convulsed with you, and rivers and roads that you may go aright, 15 And landmarks (too), and by the star they find a way. 16 So will He Who creates ever be like one who does not create? So do you not heed advice? 17 And if ye would count the favours of Allah ye could not compute them; verily Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. 18 And Allah doth know what ye conceal, and what ye reveal. 19 Those whom they invoke besides Allah create nothing and are themselves created. 20 They are dead, not alive; and they do not know when will the people be raised. 21
