A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ AlifLaamMeemSaad. 1 This Book has been sent down to you; so do not hesitate to warn (the unbelievers) through it, and remind the faithful. 2 "Follow what has been sent down unto you by your Sustainer, and follow no masters other than Him. How seldom do you keep this in mind! 3 And how many a township We have destroyed, upon them Our violence came at night or while they were taking their midday rest. 4 Then naught was their cry when Our violence came upon them save that they said: verily we have been the wrong-doers. 5 We will certainly question the people and the Messengers sent to them. 6 With knowledge We will narrate to them, for We are never absent. 7 And the weighing [of deeds] that Day will be the truth. So those whose scales are heavy - it is they who will be the successful. 8 And those whose scales are light - they are the ones who will lose themselves for what injustice they were doing toward Our verses. 9 We settled you on the earth, and provided means of livelihood for you in it; but little are the thanks you give. 10
