۞ And to the 'Aad [We sent] their brother Hud. He said, "O my people, worship Allah; you have no deity other than Him. Then will you not fear Him?" 65 The disbelieving assembly of his nation said: 'We see you in foolishness, and think that you are of the liars' 66 He said: O my people! There is no foolishness in me, but I am a messenger from the Lord of the Worlds. 67 I bring to you the messages of my Lord. I am your sincere friend. 68 "Do ye wonder that there hath come to you a message from your Lord through a man of your own people, to warn you? call in remembrance that He made you inheritors after the people of Noah, and gave you a stature tall among the nations. Call in remembrance the benefits (ye have received) from Allah: that so ye may prosper." 69 They said, "Have you come to tell us to serve God alone and to forsake the gods our forefathers served? Bring us then what you threaten us with, if you are truthful." 70 [Hud] said, "Already have defilement and anger fallen upon you from your Lord. Do you dispute with me concerning [mere] names you have named them, you and your fathers, for which Allah has not sent down any authority? Then wait; indeed, I am with you among those who wait." 71 Through Our mercy, We saved him and his companions and destroyed the unbelievers who called Our revelations mere lies. 72
