Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ The Reality! 1 and what is the Resurrection Verifier? 2 Ah, what will convey unto thee what the reality is! 3 THE LIE gave [the tribes of] Thamud and 'Ad to [all tidings of] that sudden calamity! 4 Thamood, they were destroyed by the violent shout (of Gabriel), 5 and as for Ad, they were destroyed by a wind clamorous, 6 which He willed against them for seven nights and eight days without cease, so that in the end thou couldst see those people laid low [in death,] as though they were so many [uprooted] trunks of hollow palm trees: 7 Do you then see of them one remaining? 8 And Firon and those before him and the overthrown cities continuously committed sins. 9 and they rebelled against the Messenger of their Lord, and He seized them with a surpassing grip. 10 Lo, when the waters rose, We bore you in the running ship 11 That We might make it for you a reminder and [that] a conscious ear would be conscious of it. 12 So, when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast 13 And the earth and mountains heaved and crushed to powder with one levelling blow, 14 On that Day shall the (Great) Event come to pass. 15 The heaven will be split; because on that Day it will be frail. 16 On its fringes will be angels, eight of them, bearing their Lord's throne aloft. 17 That Day, you will be exhibited [for judgement]; not hidden among you is anything concealed. 18 So whoever is given his book in his right hand – he will say, “Take, read my account!” 19 “I was certain that I will confront my account.” 20 So he shall be in a life, well-pleasing. 21 In a Garden on high, 22 With fruits hanging low within reach, 23 [And all who are thus blest will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer in return for all [the good deeds] that you have sent ahead in days gone by!" 24 And as for him who is given his book in his left hand he shall say: O would that my book had never been given me: 25 and knew nothing of my reckoning. 26 "Ah! Would that (Death) had made an end of me! 27 My wealth has not helped me a thing 28 my authority is gone from me.' 29 (It will be said): 'Take him and bind him. 30 and then let him enter Hell. 31 "Further, make him march in a chain, whereof the length is seventy cubits! 32 Verily he was wont not to believe in Allah, the Mighty. 33 nor did he feel any urge to feed the needy, 34 So there is not for him here this Day any devoted friend 35 Nor any food save filthy corruption. 36 "Which none do eat but those in sin." 37
