۞ He it is Who did create you from a single soul, and therefrom did make his mate that he might take rest in her. And when he covered her she bore a light burden, and she passed (unnoticed) with it, but when it became heavy they cried unto Allah, their Lord, saying: If thou givest unto us aright we shall be of the thankful. 189 But when He vouchsafeth the twain a goodly child they set up unto Him associates in respect of that which He hath vouchsafed to them. Exalted be Allah far from that which they associate! 190 Do they attribute as partners to Allah those who created nothing but they themselves are created? 191 And who cannot succour them, nor can succour themselves. 192 It makes no difference whether you call on them or remain silent. If you call them to the right path, they will not follow you. 193 Those on whom you call apart from God, are servants the likes of you; call them and let them answer you, if you speak truly. 194 What, have they feet wherewith they walk, or have they hands wherewith they lay hold, or have they eyes wherewith they see, or have they ears wherewith they give ear? Say: 'Call you then to your associates; then try your guile on me, and give me no respite. 195 Indeed, my protector is Allah, who has sent down the Book; and He is an ally to the righteous. 196 And those whom you call upon besides Him are not able to help you, nor can they help themselves. 197 If thou callest them to guidance, they hear not. Thou wilt see them looking at thee, but they see not. 198 Take to forgiveness and enjoin good and turn aside from the ignorant. 199 And if it should happen that a prompting from Satan stirs thee up [to blind anger,] seek refuge with God: behold, He is all-hearing, all-knowing. 200 If the God-fearing are instigated by any suggestion of Satan, they instantly become alert, whereafter they clearly perceive the right way. 201 and their brothers they lead on into error, then they stop not short. 202 When you do not bring them a sign, they say, "Why do you not invent one?" Say, "I follow only what is revealed to me by my Lord. This Book is an enlightenment from your Lord and a guide and mercy to true believers. 203 So when the Qur'an is recited, then listen to it and pay attention that you may receive mercy. 204 And remember your Lord within yourself humbly and fearing and in a voice not loud in the morning and the evening and be not of the heedless ones. 205 [The angels] who are near to Your Lord, never turn away from His service out of arrogance; they rather glorify Him and prostrate themselves before Him. ۩ 206
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
