It is He who sends down water from the sky. From it you drink and with it trees grow on which you pasture your cattle. 10 And with it He grows for you corn, and the olive and the date-palm and the grape, and all kinds of fruits. Surely, in that is a sign for a people who reflect. 11 And He has made the night and the day and the sun and the moon subservient [to His laws, so that they be of use] to you; and all the stars are subservient to His command: in this, behold, there are messages indeed for people who use their reason! 12 And He hath subjected for you whatsoever He hath multiplied for you on the earth of various kinds. Verily therein is a sign for a people who receive admonition. 13 It is He who has subdued the sea that you may eat fresh meat from it, and obtain ornaments to wear. You see the ships plough through it that you may seek of His bounties and, perhaps, be grateful. 14 He set firm mountains upon the earth lest it should shake with you; and rivers, and roads, in order that you are guided. 15 The stars and other signs also help people to find their way. 16 Then is He who creates like one who does not create? So will you not be reminded? 17 If ye would count up the favours of Allah, never would ye be able to number them: for Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. 18 And Allah knoweth that which ye keep secret and that which ye publish. 19 Those unto whom they cry beside Allah created naught, but are themselves created. 20 they are dead, not living. They do not even know when they will be resurrected. 21
