The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
