Those that were before them contrived; then God came upon their building from the foundations, and the roof fell down on them from over them, and the chastisement came upon them from whence they were not aware. 26 Then on the resurrection day He will bring them to disgrace and say: Where are the associates you gave Me, for whose sake you became hostile? Those who are given the knowledge will say: Surely the disgrace and the evil are this day upon the unbelievers: 27 Those whose lives the angels take while they are wronging their own souls will offer submission saying, "We were not doing anything evil!" "Indeed!" the angels will reply, "God is aware of what you have been doing, 28 So enter the gates of hell, to dwell therein for ever. Woeful indeed will be the lodging of the arrogant. 29 ۞ When those who fear God are asked, "What has your Lord sent down?" Their reply is, "Goodness!" The reward of those who do good works in this world is good, but the abode of the Hereafter is even better. The home of the righteous is indeed excellent. 30 Gardens of Eden they shall enter, underneath which rivers flow, wherein they shall have all they will. So God recompenses the godfearing, 31 Those whom the angels cause to die while they are clean, saying peace be upon you! enter the Garden for that which ye have been working. 32 Await they aught say that the angels should come unto them or thy Lord's command should come to pass? Even so did those before them. Allah wronged them not, but they did wrong themselves, 33 So they were struck by the evil consequences of what they did and were enveloped by what they used to ridicule. 34
