They will question thee concerning Dhool Karnain. Say: 'I will recite to you a mention of him. 83 We established him in the land, and We gave him a way to everything; 84 So he followed a way. 85 to the West where he found the sun setting into a warm source (spring) of water and a people living near by. We asked him, "Dhu 'l-Qarnayn, you may punish them or treat them with kindness?" 86 He submitted, “Regarding one who has done injustice, we shall soon punish him – he will then be brought back to his Lord, Who will punish him severely.” 87 But as for him who believeth and doeth right, good will be his reward, and We shall speak unto him a mild command. 88 He again pursued a purpose. 89 until he reached the limit where the sun rises and he found it rising on a people whom We had provided no shelter from it. 90 thus [We had made them, and thus he left them; and We did encompass with Our knowledge all that he had in mind 91 Then followed he (another) way, 92 Until, when he reached [a pass] between two mountains, he found beside them a people who could hardly understand [his] speech. 93 They said: "O Zul-qarnain! the Gog and Magog (People) do great mischief on earth: shall we then render thee tribute in order that thou mightest erect a barrier between us and them? 94 He said: better is that wherein my Lord hath established me; so help me with might, and I shall place between you and them a rampart. 95 Bring me blocks of iron; until when he had filled up the space between the two mountain sides, he said: Blow, until when he had made it (as) fire, he said: Bring me molten brass which I may pour over it. 96 So Gog and Magog were unable to pass over it, nor were they able [to effect] in it any penetration. 97 He said: "This is a mercy from my Lord: But when the promise of my Lord comes to pass, He will make it into dust; and the promise of my Lord is true." 98 ۞ Upon that day We shall leave them surging on one another, and the Trumpet shall be blown, and We shall gather them together, 99 And We will present Hell that Day to the Disbelievers, on display - 100 whose eyes were covered against My remembrance, and they were not able to hear. 101
