The people of Thamud rejected Our warnings. 23 They said: 'Are we to follow a mortal who is one of us? Then indeed, we would surely be in error and insane. 24 Was he the one of all of us to have been given the exposition? He is surely an impudent liar." 25 (We told Our Messenger): “Tomorrow they shall know who is the insolent liar. 26 Lo! We are sending the she-camel as a test for them; so watch them and have patience; 27 And tell them that the water is to be divided between them, each drink for each in turn. 28 But they called to their companion, and he took a sword in hand, and hamstrung (her). 29 How terrible was My punishment and warning. 30 Indeed, We sent upon them one blast from the sky, and they became like the dry twig fragments of an [animal] pen. 31 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 32 The folk of Lot rejected warnings. 33 We let loose on all of them a squall of claystones, except for the house of Lot whom We saved at dawn 34 As favor from us. Thus do We reward he who is grateful. 35 He had warned them of Our assault but they disputed the warnings. 36 They lusted after his guests, so We put out their eyes (and said): "Taste My punishment and My commination." 37 Early on the morrow an abiding Punishment seized them: 38 So taste My chastisement and My warning. 39 We have made it easy indeed to learn lessons from the Quran.
