▼ 74 The Hidden Secret
Al-Muddath-thir 2 of 2
Nay, by the moon, 32 And by the night when it withdraws, 33 And by the dawn when it brightens, 34 Surely it (hell) is one of the gravest (misfortunes), 35 as a warner to mortals. 36 Unto him of you who will advance or hang back. 37 Every soul is mortgaged for its own deeds. 38 Save the fellows of the right. 39 [dwelling] In gardens [of paradise,] they will inquire 40 about the sinners. 41 What hath brought you to this burning? 42 They will answer: "We were not among those who prayed; 43 And we have not been feeding the poor. 44 And we have been wading with the waders. 45 And we used to call the day of judgment a lie; 46 till the certainty (death) overtook us' 47 The intercession of their intercessors shall not benefit them. 48 Why then do they turn away from the admonition 49 As if they were alarmed donkeys 50 That had fled from a lion? 51 Nay, every man of them desires to be -- given -- scrolls unrolled. 52 This will certainly never be the case! In fact, they are not afraid of the Day of Judgment. 53 Nay, this surely is an admonition: 54 So whosoever will (let him read it), and receive admonition (from it)! 55 And they will not heed unless Allah willeth (it). He is the fount of fear. He is the fount of Mercy. 56
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
