(Pharaoh) said unto the chiefs about him: Lo! this is verily a knowing wizard, 34 He wants to drive you out of your land by his magic, so what do you advise?" 35 They said: put off him and his brother, and send unto the cities callers. 36 “To bring to you every expert great magician.” 37 So the sorcerers were assembled for the appointed time of a fixed day. 38 And it was said to the people, “Have you (also) gathered?” 39 in order that we shall follow the sorcerers if they are the victors' 40 And when the magicians arrived, they said to Pharaoh, "Is there indeed for us a reward if we are the predominant?" 41 He replied, "Certainly, in that case you will join my inner circle." 42 Moses said to them: "Cast what you have to cast." 43 So they threw their ropes and their sticks, and said: "By the might of Fir'aun (Pharaoh), it is we who will certainly win!" 44 Then Moses cast down his staff and suddenly it swallowed up what they had falsely invented. 45 The magicians therefore fell down prostrate. 46 Crying: We believe in the Lord of the Worlds, 47 “The Lord of Moosa and Haroon.” 48 [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] said: "You have believed in him before I give you leave. Surely, he indeed is your chief, who has taught you magic! So verily, you shall come to know. Verily, I will cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and I will crucify you all." 49 They said, 'There is no harm; surely unto our Lord we are turning. 50 Lo! we ardently hope that our Lord will forgive us our sins because we are the first of the believers. 51
