And a sign for them is the dead land. We gave it life, and We brought forth from it grains, so that they eat thereof. 33 We made in it gardens of date-palms and vines, and We caused springs to gush forth 34 that they might eat of its fruits. It was not their hands that made them. Will they not, then, give thanks? 35 Holy is He who created all things in pairs; of what the earth grows, and of themselves, and other things which they do not know. 36 And there is a sign in the night for them. We strip off the day from it and they are left in darkness, 37 And the sun runs its course for its final destination; this is a command of the Almighty, the All Knowing. 38 And the moon -- We have determined it by stations, till it returns like an aged palm-bough. 39 [and] neither may the sun overtake the moon, nor can the night usurp the time of day, since all of them float through space [in accordance with Our laws]. 40 Another Sign for them is that We carried all their offspring in the laden vessel 41 and created for them similar things to ride. 42 We could have drowned them if We pleased, and none would have answered their cry for help, nor would they have been saved, 43 unless it be by an act of mercy from Us and a grant of life for a [further span of] time. 44 When they are told, "Fear ye that which is before you and that which will be after you, in order that ye may receive Mercy," (they turn back). 45 Never does any Sign of their Lord come to them, but they turn away from it. 46 When they are told to spend for the cause of God out of what He has provided for them for their sustenance, the disbelievers say to the believers, "Should we feed those whom God has decided to feed? You are in plain error." 47 They say: “When will this threat (of Resurrection) come to pass? Tell us if indeed you are truthful.” 48 They must be waiting for but one single blast, which will overtake them while they are still disputing. 49 Then they will be unable to make a will, nor shall they return to their kinsmen. 50
