Al-Waaqe'ah 2 of 3
These (people of the right hand) consist of many from the ancient 39 And a large group from the latter. 40 Those on the Left: how unfortunate are those on the Left! 41 Amidst scorching wind and scalding water. 42 and the shadows of black smoke 43 which will neither be cool nor soothing. 44 Verily, before that, they indulged in luxury, 45 and persisted in the great sin 46 And they used to say, "When we die and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected? 47 What, and our fathers, the ancients?' 48 Say (O Muhammad SAW): "(Yes) verily, those of old, and those of later times. 49 will indeed be gathered together at an appointed time on a Day known [only to God]: 50 Then you, the erring ones and those that gave the lie to the Truth, 51 Most surely eat of a tree of Zaqqoom, 52 Fill your bellies with it, 53 And shall be drinkers thereon of boiling water. 54 like a thirsty camel". 55 That is their accommodation on the Day of Recompense. 56 We created you; therefore why will you not believe? 57 Have you ever considered that [seed] which you emit? 58 Create him ye, or are We the Creator? 59 We have decreed death to you all, and We are not unable, 60 that We will change you and cause you to grow again in a way you do not know. 61 You have certainly known the first creation. Why, then, do you not take heed? 62 Ponder upon the soil you till, 63 Is it you who cause it to grow - or are We the cause of its growth? 64 If We pleased, We should have certainly made it broken down into pieces, then would you begin to lament: 65 "We are ruined, 66 "Indeed are we shut out (of the fruits of our labour)" 67 Did you cast a good look at the water that you drink? 68 Send it down ye from the raincloud, or are We the Sender down? 69 If We will We can make it bitter, so why do you not give thanks? 70 So what is your opinion regarding the fire which you kindle? 71 Is it you who produced its tree, or are We the producer? 72 We have made it as a reminder of hell and as a utility for travellers in the jungle. 73 Therefore glorify the name of your Lord, the Great. 74

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
