S (Saad)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Sad. By the Qur'an full of admonition. 1 Verily those who disbelieve are in vainglory and schism. 2 How many a generation We have destroyed before them, and they cried out when there was no longer time for escape! 3 And they (Arab pagans) wonder that a warner (Prophet Muhammad SAW) has come to them from among themselves! And the disbelievers say: "This (Prophet Muhammad SAW) is a sorcerer, a liar. 4 Has he turned so many gods into one deity? This is indeed a strange thing!" 5 And their leaders launch forth [thus]: "Go ahead, and hold steadfastly onto your deities: this, behold, is the only thing to do! 6 "We never heard (the like) of this among the people of these latter days: this is nothing but a made-up tale!" 7 "Has the Reminder been sent down to him (alone) from among us?" Nay! but they are in doubt about My Reminder (this Quran)! Nay, but they have not tasted (My) Torment! 8 Or is it that they have the treasures of the mercy of your Lord, the Mighty, the great Giver? 9 Or is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them theirs? Then let them ascend by ropes! 10 The army is defeated as (were) the confederates. 11 The people of Noah denied before them, and [the tribe of] 'Aad and Pharaoh, the owner of stakes, 12 And Thamud, and the people of Lut, and the Companions of the Wood; - such were the Confederates. 13 Each of them denied the messengers, so My penalty was justified. 14
