The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Read! In the name of your Lord, who created: 1 Created man from a clot. 2 Read - for thy Sustainer is the Most Bountiful One 3 who, by the pen, taught the human being: 4 taught man what he did not know! 5 Yet man behaves arrogantly, 6 that he sees himself sufficed. 7 Surely to your Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen the one who prohibits 9 A slave (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) when he prays? 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 or bade to godfearing -- 12 What will happen if the prohibiting rejects the Truth and turns away from it!? 13 does he not know that Allah sees? 14 No indeed; if he does not desist, We shall drag him by the forelock; 15 A lying, sinning forelock. 16 Then, let him call his assembly, 17 [the while] We shall summon the forces of heavenly chastisement! 18 By no means! Obey not thou him. Continue to adore, and continue to draw nigh. ۩ 19
