The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the Mount, 1 and by the Book in lines 2 on parchment for distribution, 3 by the much-frequented House, 4 and the uplifted roof 5 and the sea that is full 6 Lo! the doom of thy Lord will surely come to pass; 7 There is none that can avert it; 8 (It shall come to pass) on the Day when the heaven will convulse in a great convulsion, 9 And the mountains move away with (awful) movement, 10 On that Day woe to those who belied 11 Who play in talk of grave matters; 12 On that Day when they shall be pitched into the Fire of Gehenna (Hell), 13 This is the fire which you used to give the lie to. 14 What, is this magic, or is it you that do not see? 15 Burn in its heat. It is all the same for you whether you exercise patience or not; This is the recompense for your deeds". 16 Indeed, the righteous will be in gardens and pleasure, 17 Rejoicing at what their Lord has given them; and their Lord will preserve them from the torment of Hell. 18 (To them will be said:) "Eat and drink ye, with profit and health, because of your (good) deeds." 19 They will be reclining on thrones lined up, and We will marry them to fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes. 20 And those who believe and whose progeny follow them in belief. We shall cause their progeny to join them, and We shall not diminish unto them aught of their own work. Every man is for that which he hath earned a pledge. 21 And We shall succour them with fruits and flesh such as they desire 22 They will pass cups of un-intoxicating and unsinful wine to one another. 23 ۞ Round about them will serve, (devoted) to them, young male servants (handsome) as Pearls well-guarded. 24 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 25 They will say: "Aforetime, we were not without fear for the sake of our people. 26 and so God has graced us with His favour, and has warded off from us all suffering through the scorching winds [of frustration]. 27 Verily we were wont to pray unto Him aforetime; verily He! it is He, the Benign, the Merciful. 28
