Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 In an elevated garden, 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 cushions ranged, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
