Whatever misfortune befalls you is a consequence of your deeds; yet He forgives much. 30 You cannot frustrate Him in the earth; you have no protector nor helper against Allah. 31 And among His signs are the ships that sail like [floating] mountains through the seas: 32 and if He wills, He stills the wind, and they remain motionless on its back. Surely in that are signs for every man enduring, thankful. 33 Or He may destroy them (by drowning) because of that which their (people) have earned. And He pardons much. 34 Then those who wrangle about Our Signs will come to know that there is no escape for them. 35 Whatsoever you have been given is only this life's merchandise; but what is with God is better and more lasting for those who believe and place their trust in their Lord, 36 And those who avoid the greater sins, and Al-Fawahish (illegal sexual intercourse, etc.), and when they are angry, they forgive 37 And those who respond to their Lord and keep up prayer, and their rule is to take counsel among themselves, and who spend out of what We have given them. 38 And those who defend themselves when they are wronged. 39 The recompense for evil will be equivalent to the deed. He who pardons (the evil done to him) and reforms himself, will receive his reward from God. God certainly does not love the unjust. 40 And whosoever harms after he has been harmed there is no blame upon them. 41 Blame lies on those who oppress, and terrorise the land unjustly. For them there is painful punishment. 42 And whoever is patient and forgives - indeed, that is of the matters [requiring] determination. 43
