The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 Arise, and warn. 2 Glorify your Lord, 3 and purify your clothing, 4 And banish all trepidation. 5 And bestow not favour that thou mayest receive more. 6 Exercise patience to please your Lord. 7 For when the trumpet blows 8 that will surely be a hard day, 9 For the infidels, not easy. 10 Leave Me alone with he whom I created 11 and appointed for him ample wealth 12 And children present [with him] 13 To whom I made (life) smooth and comfortable! 14 and who still desires more. 15 Never! For he is an enemy to Our signs! 16 We shall make him suffer the torment of hell without relief. 17 Verily he considered, and devised. 18 and woe to him; how he plotted! 19 Let him be destroyed. How he calculated! 20 Then looked he, 21 frowned and scowled; 22 then he retreated and grew proud 23 And said, “This is nothing but magic learnt from earlier men.” 24 “This is nothing but the speech of a man.” 25 [Hence,] I shall cause him to endure hell-fire [in the life to come]! 26 - Ah, what will convey unto thee what that burning is! - 27 It leaveth naught; it spareth naught 28 Darkening and changing the colour of man! 29 Over it are nineteen. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
