And whatsoever of affliction befalleth you is owing to that which your hands have earned; and He pardoneth much. 30 You cannot thwart Him on the earth, and have no friend or helper apart from Him. 31 And of His Signs are the ships that sail in the sea like mountains. 32 If He wills, He can calm the winds so the ships remain still on the sea surface; indeed in this are signs for every greatly enduring, grateful person. 33 Or He can cause them to perish because of the (evil) which (the men) have earned; but much doth He forgive. 34 He knows all those who dispute His revelations. They will find no way to escape from (His torment). 35 Whatever ye are given (here) is (but) a convenience of this life: but that which is with Allah is better and more lasting: (it is) for those who believe and put their trust in their Lord: 36 And those who avoid the major sins and indecencies and, when angered, forgive; 37 And those who answer the call of their Lord and establish worship, and whose affairs are a matter of counsel, and who spend of what We have bestowed on them, 38 who, when a wrong is done to them, seek its redress. 39 And the retribution for an evil act is an evil one like it, but whoever pardons and makes reconciliation - his reward is [due] from Allah. Indeed, He does not like wrongdoers. 40 If one avenges himself after he has been wronged, there is no way of blaming him. 41 The way (of blame) is only against those who oppress mankind, and wrongfully rebel in the earth. For such there is a painful doom. 42 But withal, if one is patient in adversity and forgives - this, behold, is indeed something to set one's heart upon! 43
