And whatever affliction befalls you, it is on account of what your hands have wrought, and (yet) He pardons most (of your faults). 30 You cannot thwart Him on the earth, and have no friend or helper apart from Him. 31 Further evidence (of His existence) are the ships which stand as mountains in the sea. 32 If He willed, He could still the wind, and they would remain motionless on its surface. Indeed in that are signs for everyone patient and grateful. 33 Or, He wrecks them for what they have earned, but He pardons a lot. 34 And for those who dispute regarding Our signs to realise; that they do not have a place to escape to. 35 Whatever thing you have been given is the enjoyment of the present life; but what is with God is better and more enduring for those who believe and put their trust in their Lord. 36 And those who shun the great sins and indecencies, and whenever they are angry they forgive. 37 and who respond to [the call of] their Sustainer and are constant in prayer; and whose rule [in all matters of common concern] is consultation among themselves; and who spend on others out of what We provide for them as sustenance; 38 And those who, when great wrong afflicts them, defend themselves. 39 Let harm be requited by an equal harm. But whoever pardons and amends will find his reward with God. He does not love the wrongdoers. 40 And there is no way of reproach against those who take revenge after being wronged. 41 The blame is only against those who oppress men and wrong-doing and insolently transgress beyond bounds through the land, defying right and justice: for such there will be a penalty grievous. 42 But withal, if one is patient in adversity and forgives - this, behold, is indeed something to set one's heart upon! 43
