The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the star when it setteth. 1 That your companion is not confused, nor has he gone astray, 2 Nor does he say (aught) of (his own) Desire. 3 This is only revelation communicated, 4 something that a very mighty one has imparted to him: 5 One vigorous; and he grew clear to view 6 while he was in the highest horizon; 7 Then he drew near and hung above suspended, 8 he was but two bows' length or even nearer, 9 He revealed to God's servant whatever he wanted. 10 The heart was not untrue in (making him see) what he saw. 11 What, will you dispute with him about what he sees! 12 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) during his other ascent 13 by the Lote-Tree of the Boundary 14 Nigh thereto is the Garden of Abode. 15 Behold, the Lote-tree was shrouded (in mystery unspeakable!) 16 his eyes did not swerve, nor did they stray 17 Certainly he saw of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 Have you really considered al-Lat and al-"Uzza, 19 And Manat, the third, the other? 20 What, have you males, and He females? 21 Then that is surely a very unjust distribution! 22 These are only names which you and your fathers have invented. No authority was sent down by God for them. They only follow conjecture and wish-fulfilment, even though guidance had come to them already from their Lord. 23 Or is there for man whatever he wishes? 24 All that is in the life to come and all that is in this life belongs only to God. 25

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
