The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
