The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 abasing, exalting, 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 and a few from later times. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 facing one another. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 and banana trees, 29 and shade extended, 30 And water poured out 31 and fruit abounding, 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 And made them virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
