Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The indubitable event! 1 What is the Inevitable Reality? 2 And what will make you know what the Reality is? 3 (The tribes of) Thamud and A'ad disbelieved in the judgment to come. 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the awful cry! 5 And as for 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious violent wind; 6 To which He subjected them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that thou mightest have seen men during it lying prostrate, as though they were stumps of palms ruined. 7 Do you see any remnants of them? 8 Pharaoh likewise, and those before him, and the Subverted Cities -- they committed error, 9 They did not follow the Messenger of their Lord, and so He seized them with a severe grip. 10 Surely We bore you up in the ship when the water rose high, 11 So that We may make it a reminder to you, and that the retaining ear might retain it. 12 Hence, [bethink yourselves of the Last Hour,] when the trumpet [of judgment] shall be sounded with a single blast, 13 and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and crushed with a single blow, 14 Then on that Day shall the (Great) Event befall, 15 and heaven shall be split, for upon that day it shall be very frail, 16 and the angels shall stand upon its borders, and upon that day eight shall carry above them the Throne of thy Lord. 17 On that day all of you will be brought forth, so none among you wishing to hide will be able to hide. 18 Then, he who is given his book in his right hand will say: 'Here, take and read my book! 19 Surely I knew that I should have to meet my reckoning. 20 And he will be in a life of Bliss, 21 In a Garden on high, 22 The fruits in bunches whereof will be low and near at hand. 23 (They will be told): “Eat and drink with good cheer as a reward for the good deeds you did in the days that have passed by.” 24 Then as to him who shall be vouchsafed his book in his left hand, he shall say: Oh! would that I had not been vouchsafed my book. 25 and neither known this my account! 26 Oh! Would that the death that came to me in the world had made an end of me! 27 “My wealth did not in the least benefit me.” 28 and our belief has destroyed us". 29 It will be said, “Seize him, and shackle him.” 30 Then in the Scorch roast him 31 And string him to a chain seventy cubits long. 32 for he did not believe in Almighty God, 33 And urged not on the feeding of Al-Miskin (the poor), 34 and so, no friend has here today, 35 Nor food other than suppuration (filth) 36 Which none but the wrongdoers eat. 37
