The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
There hath asked an asker for the torment about to befall. 1 the unbelievers which none can prevent. 2 from punishing them. He is the Lord of the Ascending Stairways, 3 The angels and the Spirit will ascend to Him during a Day the extent of which is fifty thousand years. 4 Therefore, [O believer,] endure all adversity with goodly patience: 5 They see it [the Day of Judgement] to be far off, 6 but We see it to be very near. 7 On that Day the heaven shall become like molten copper, 8 and the mountains shall be like puffs of wool. 9 And no familiar friend will ask a question of his friend 10 as they are given sight of them. The sinner will wish that he might ransom himself from the chastisement of that day even by his sons, 11 and of his spouse, and of his brother, 12 His kindred who sheltered him, 13 And all, all that is on earth,- so it could deliver him: 14 But nay! for lo! it is the fire of hell 15 Plucking out (his being) right to the skull!- 16 It calleth him who turned and fled (from truth), 17 and amassed wealth and hoarded it. 18 ۞ Surely man was created fretful, 19 Irritable (discontented) when evil touches him; 20 And, when good befalleth him, grudging; 21 But not so the worshippers 22 Those who are regular in their prayers. 23 And those in whose riches is a known right. 24 for those that ask and those that are dispossessed, 25 who confirm the Day of Doom 26 and who stand in dread of their Sustainer's chastisement 27 (from their Lord's chastisement none feels secure) 28 and those who guard their private parts, 29 Except from their wives or those their right hands possess, for indeed, they are not to be blamed - 30 but any who seeks to go beyond that, it is indeed they who are the transgressors, 31 (Those) who keep their trusts and their covenant, 32 And those who are in their testimonies upright 33 and who observe their prayers. 34 all these shall live honourably in the Gardens. 35
