The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 and the day in splendour 2 and That which created the male and the female, 3 Verily your endeavour is diverse. 4 As for him who gives and is godfearing 5 And believes in Al-Husna. 6 We shall surely ease him to the Path of Easing; 7 But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need 8 And gives the lie to the best,- 9 For him We shall ease the way of adversity, 10 And his wealth will not avail him when he perishes. 11 Surely upon Us rests the guidance, 12 And verily unto Us (belong) the End and the Beginning. 13 Therefore I have warned you of a Fire blazing fiercely (Hell); 14 None except the most wicked will enter it. 15 who belied and turned away, 16 But save him who fears 17 Who gives his wealth in order to be pure. 18 And is under no one's obligation to return his favour, 19 But only the desire to seek for the Countenance of their Lord Most High; 20 and the reward (of their Lord) will certainly make them happy. 21
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
