He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 to a rich man, 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 noble and pious. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 to yield therein corn, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 And olives and date palms, 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
