The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat)
182 verses, revealed in Mecca after Animals (Al-An 'aam) before Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
I CALL TO witness those who stand arrayed in rows, 1 and the scarers scaring 2 and the reciters of a Remembrance, 3 your God is One, 4 Lord of the heavens and of the earth and all that is between them, and Lord of the sun's risings. 5 Indeed, We have adorned the nearest heaven with an adornment of stars 6 and have made them secure against every rebellious, satanic force, 7 These satans cannot listen to what transpires in the High Council for they are pelted away from every side 8 and driven away to suffer the necessary torment. 9 Except such as snatch away something by stealth, and they are pursued by a flaming fire, of piercing brightness. 10 Then ask them (O Muhammad): Are they stronger as a creation, or those (others) whom we have created? Lo! We created them of plastic clay. 11 Aye! thou marvellest, and they scoff. 12 And when they are reminded, they pay no attention. 13 And, when they see a Sign, turn it to mockery, 14 and say: 'This is nothing but clear sorcery' 15 When we are dead and turned to dust and bones, how can we be raised again, 16 And so also shall our forefathers of yore be raised to life?” 17 Say, "Yes indeed, and you will be brought low." 18 It will be but one Shout, then see, they are watching 19 They will say: "Woe to us! This is the Day of Recompense!" 20 [And they will be told:] "This is the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false - the Day] which you were wont to call a lie!" 21
