And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story. 69 When he said unto his father and his folk: What worship ye? 70 They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries. 71 He said: Do they hear you when ye cry? 72 "Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?" 73 They said: Nay, we found our fathers doing so. 74 Abraham said, "Have you really thought about what you have been worshipping, 75 you and your forefathers of yore? 76 "For they are enemies to me; not so the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds; 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 It is He who gives me food and drink 79 and heals me when I am sick. 80 who makes me to die and then revives me, 81 "And who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the day of Judgment. 82 My Lord, give me Judgment, and join me with the righteous, 83 and appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the others. 84 Make me inherit the bountiful Paradise. 85 And forgive my father, for surely he is of those who have gone astray; 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 the Day when wealth and sons will be of no avail, 88 Save him who bringeth unto Allah a whole heart. 89 And Paradise will be brought close for the pious. 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 And it shall be said to them: Where are those that you used to worship; 92 besides God? Will the idols help you? Can they help themselves?" 93 And they will be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 and the hosts of Iblis - all together. 95 And they will say, when they are quarrelling therein: 96 By Allah, we were truly in a manifest error, 97 When we equalled you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 And none but the guilty led us astray; 99 And now we have none to intercede for us, 100 no caring friend. 101 Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers... " 102 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 103 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
