The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
