The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
