The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the heavens and that which comes in the night -- 1 And what will make you know what the comer by night is? 2 (It is) the piercing star. 3 For every soul there is a watcher. 4 So let man consider of what he was created; 5 He is created from a drop emitted- 6 issuing between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Lo! He verily is Able to return him (unto life) 8 The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth). 9 Then will (man) have no power, nor any helper. 10 By the sky (having rain clouds) which gives rain, again and again. 11 And the earth which splits (with the growth of trees and plants), 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 and is not to be taken lightly. 14 Indeed, they are planning a plan, 15 and I too am devising a guile. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal you gently with them for a while. 17
