Nay! By the moon 32 By the night when it withdraweth. 33 and the morn when it dawns! 34 Indeed, the Fire is of the greatest [afflictions] 35 A warning for people -- 36 To him among you who wishes to go forward or remain behind. 37 Every person is a pledge for what he has earned, 38 Save the fellows of the right. 39 In Gardens, they seek answers, 40 and will ask of the criminals, 41 "what led you into hell?" 42 and they shall reply, "We were not among those who prayed; 43 And did not feed the needy, 44 "But we used to talk vanities with vain talkers; 45 And rejected the Day of Judgement as a lie 46 Till death overtook us. 47 And so, of no benefit to them could be the intercession of any that would intercede for them. 48 Why now turn they away from the Admonishment, 49 As though they were asses startled. 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Aye! every one of them desireth that: he should be vouchsafed scrolls expanded. 52 No indeed; the truth is that they have no fear of the Hereafter. 53 Nay, verily. Lo! this is an Admonishment. 54 So whoever pleases may mind it. 55 But they will not remember except as God wills: He is worthy to be feared, and He is worthy of forgiving 56
