Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Ha Mim: 1 THE BESTOWAL from on high [of this revelation] issues from the Most Gracious, the Dispenser of Grace: 2 A Book the verses of which are explained in detail, the Qur’an in Arabic for people of intellect. 3 It contains glad news and warnings (for the people), but most of them have ignored it and do not listen. 4 And say: "Our hearts are immured against what you call us to. There is a deafness in our ears, and a veil lies between us and you. So act (your way), we are acting (ours)." 5 Say, O [Muhammad], "I am only a man like you to whom it has been revealed that your god is but one God; so take a straight course to Him and seek His forgiveness." And woe to those who associate others with Allah - 6 who do not pay charity and disbelieve in the Everlasting Life. 7 For those who believe and do good works is an enduring wage' 8
