Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 And chosen goblets. 14 And cushions lined up 15 And carpets spread around. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
