The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I CALL THE night to witness when it covers over, 1 And the day resplendent 2 Consider the creation of the male and the female! 3 you strive in various ways. 4 Thus, as for him who gives [to others] and is conscious of God, 5 and believes in the truth of the ultimate good 6 So We will very soon provide him ease. 7 But as for him who is a miser, and self-sufficient, 8 And who belieth the Good, 9 We shall surely ease for him the Path of Hardship (the Fire). 10 and what will his wealth avail him when he goes down [to his grave]? 11 Verify on us is the guidance 12 and, behold, Ours is [the dominion over] the life to come as well as [over] this earlier part [of your life]: 13 I have now warned you of a Blazing Fire, 14 None shall roast therein but the most wretched, 15 Who had denied and turned away. 16 He will be far away from the most pious. (The first Caliph S. Abu Bakr Siddiq) 17 one who gives his wealth to become purified, 18 They do not expect any reward 19 But only the desire to seek for the Countenance of their Lord Most High; 20 and before long he will be well satisfied. 21
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
