Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Ha-Mim 1 By the Clear Book, 2 verily We have made it an Arabic Qur'an that you may understand. 3 It is in the Origin of the Book with Us, sublime and wise. 4 What! shall We then turn away the reminder from you altogether because you are an extravagant people? 5 And how many a prophet did We send to people of olden times! 6 And there came not to them a prophet but they mocked at him. 7 So We destroyed far more powerful (nations) than they. The example of earlier people is there. 8 Yet if you were to ask them: “Who created the heavens and the earth?” they will certainly say: “The All-Mighty, the All-Knowing has created them.” 9 He Who made the earth a resting-place for you, and made in it ways for you that you may go aright; 10 And Who sendeth down from the heaven water in measure; then We quicken a dead land therewith: even so ye shall be brought forth. 11 And Who has created all the pairs and has appointed for you ships and cattle on which you ride, 12 That you may firmly sit on their backs, then remember the favor of your Lord when you are firmly seated thereon, and say: Glory be to Him Who made this subservient to us and we were not able to do it 13 To our Lord we shall all return". 14 And they appoint for Him from His bondmen a part! Verily man is an ingrate manifest. 15
