The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By those [angels] who range themselves in close ranks 1 And by oath of those who herd with a stern warning. 2 Then those who recite, being mindful, 3 surely your God is One, 4 Lord of the heavens and the earth, and of what between them is Lord of the Easts. 5 Lo! We have adorned the lowest heaven with an ornament, the planets; 6 (For beauty) and for guard against all obstinate rebellious evil spirits, 7 They cannot listen to the exalted assembly and they are thrown at from every side, 8 With a driving fusillade, and theirs shall be a torment perpetual; 9 Except such as snatch away something by stealth, and they are pursued by a flaming fire, of piercing brightness. 10 Then ask them whether they are stronger in creation or those (others) whom We have created. Surely We created them of firm clay. 11 Aye! thou marvellest, and they scoff. 12 And when they are reminded, they remember not. 13 and, when they see a sign, would scoff; 14 And they say, “This is nothing but clear magic.” 15 Why - after we have died and become mere dust and bones, shall we, forsooth, be raised from the dead? 16 And so also shall our forefathers of yore be raised to life?” 17 Say: 'Yes, but worthless' 18 There will be but a single blast and then their eyes will open. 19 and they will say: 'Woe for us. This is the Day of Recompense' 20 This is the day of the judgment which you called a lie. 21
