Ask them, "Who can protect them from (the wrath of) the Beneficent God during the night and day?" Yet they are neglectful about their Lord. 42 Or, have they gods who can defend them against Us? They shall not be able to assist themselves, nor shall they be defended from Us. 43 We allowed them and their fathers time to enjoy till the very end of their lives. Do they not see Us advancing into the land, reducing its frontiers? Would they still prevail? 44 (Muhammad), tell them, "I am warning you by revelation alone." The deaf do not hear any call when they are warned. 45 But if just a breath of your Lord's punishment were to touch them, they would say: 'Woe for us, we were harmdoers' 46 We shall set up scales of justice for the Day of Judgment, so that not a soul will be dealt with unjustly in the least, and if there be (no more than) the weight of a mustard seed, We will bring it (to account): and enough are We to take account. 47 We gave Moses and Aaron the Criterion, and a light and reminder for those who take heed for themselves, 48 (For) those who fear their Lord in secret and they are fearful of the hour. 49 This is a Blessed Admonition that We have revealed. Are you, then, going to reject it? 50
