AND, BEHOLD, Jonah was indeed one of Our message-bearers 139 He ran away to the laden ship, 140 Then he joined the lots, and was of the condemned. 141 [and they cast him into the sea,] whereupon the great fish swallowed him, for he had been blameworthy. 142 Had he not glorified God, 143 He would have stayed in its belly till the day the dead are raised. 144 ۞ Then We cast him on to the vacant surface of the earth while he was sick. 145 and We caused a pumpkin tree to grow over him. 146 Then We sent him unto a hundred thousand, or more, 147 So they accepted faith – We therefore gave them usage for a while. 148 Now ask them (O Muhammad SAW): "Are there (only) daughters for your Lord and sons for them?" 149 Did We create the angels as females the while they witnessed?” 150 It is only because of their false invention that they say, 151 "God has begotten (children)?" They are liars indeed! 152 Has He chosen daughters in preference to sons? 153 What ails you that you judge in such a wise? 154 Will you not then remember? 155 Or have ye an authority manifest? 156 Then bring your scripture, if what you say is true. 157 And they have claimed between Him and the jinn a lineage, but the jinn have already known that they [who made such claims] will be brought to [punishment]. 158 Glory be to Allah (for freedom) from what they describe; 159 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 160 So, verily you (pagans) and those whom you worship (idols). 161 Ye cannot excite (anyone) against Him. 162 except those who will burn in Hell. 163 Of us there is none but hath a station assigned. 164 Lo! we, even we are they who set the ranks, 165 And we are they who exalt (Allah)' 166 They used to say: 167 "If we had a message from [those of] the former peoples, 168 We would be single-minded slaves of Allah. 169 But when it came to them, they rejected it. They shall soon come to know (the end of such an attitude). 170 for, long ago has Our word gone forth unto Our servants, the message-bearers, 171 That they would certainly be assisted, 172 And that Our forces,- they surely must conquer. 173 Therefore turn away from them till a time, 174 And watch them (how they fare), and they soon shall see (how thou farest)! 175 Would they hasten on Our doom? 176 Then when it descendeth unto them face to face, a hapless morn that shall be for those who were warned. 177 So turn (O Muhammad SAW) away from them for a while, 178 And see, for they are going to see. 179 LIMITLESS in His glory is thy Sustainer, the Lord of almightiness, [exalted] above anything that men may devise by way of definition! 180 And peace be on the Messengers! 181 And praise belongs to Allah, Lord of the Worlds. 182
