Hoarding (Al-Takaathur)

8 verses, revealed in Mecca after Bounty (Al-Kawthar) before Charity (Al-Maa'oon)

In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful

The craving for ever-greater worldly gains and to excel others in that regard keeps you occupied 1 till you reached the grave. 2 Lo! presently ye shall know. 3 Nay, but ye will come to know! 4 Nay! If you knew with a sure knowledge (the end result of piling up, you would not have occupied yourselves in worldly things) 5 Surely ye shall behold the Scorch. 6 Then ye shall surely behold with the surety of vision. 7 Then on that day you will surely be asked about the verity of pleasures. 8

True are the words of God the Almighty.
