When We said to the angels, "Prostrate yourselves to Adam", they prostrated themselves, but not Iblis: he refused. 116 So We said, "O Adam, indeed this is an enemy to you and to your wife. Then let him not remove you from Paradise so you would suffer. 117 Indeed, it is [promised] for you not to be hungry therein or be unclothed. 118 And you (will) suffer not from thirst therein nor from the sun's heat. 119 But satan whispered to him saying: 'Adam, shall I direct you the Tree of Eternity and a kingdom which never decays' 120 They both ate the fruit of this tree, and so they became conscious of their nakedness and began to cover themselves with the leaves of the Garden. Thus Adam disobeyed his Lord and fell into error. 121 Then his Lord chose him and relented towards him, and showed him the way; 122 He said: Get forth you two therefrom, all (of you), one of you (is) enemy to another. So there will surely come to you guidance from Me, then whoever follows My guidance, he shall not go astray nor be unhappy; 123 but whosoever turns away from My remembrance, his shall be a life of narrowness, and on the Resurrection Day We shall raise him blind.' 124 'My Lord' he will say: 'why have You raised me blind when I was able to see' 125 God shall say, 'Even so it is. Our signs came unto thee, and thou didst forget them; and so today thou art forgotten.' 126 And thus do We recompense him who transgresses beyond bounds and believes not in the Signs of his Lord: and the Penalty of the Hereafter is far more grievous and more enduring. 127 Is it not a guidance to them, how many generations We destroyed before them in whose dwelling-places they walk? Surely in that are signs for men possessing reason. 128
