O apostles! eat of the good things and do good; surely I know what you do. 51 This community of yours is one community, and I am your Lord; so hold Me alone in fear. 52 But they (who claim to follow you) have torn their unity wide asunder, piece by piece, each group delighting in [but] what they themselves possess [by way of tenets]. 53 So leave them in their error for a time. 54 Do they fancy that Our continuing to give them wealth and children (means) that 55 have no other purpose except to help them in acquiring material benefits? No indeed. But they do not understand. 56 Those who tremble in fear of their Lord, 57 who have full faith in the Signs of their Lord; 58 Those who join not (in worship) partners with their Lord; 59 And they who give what they give while their hearts are fearful because they will be returning to their Lord - 60 It is those who hasten to good deeds, and they outstrip [others] therein. 61 We charge not any soul save to its capacity, and with Us is a Book speaking truth, and they shall not be wronged. 62 But their hearts are in ignorance of this (Koran); and they have deeds besides that which they are doing. 63 Till, when We seize with the chastisement the ones of them that live at ease, behold, they groan. 64 [But they will be told] "Cry not in supplication today; for, behold, you shall not be succoured by Us! 65 My Signs were rehearsed to you and you turned back on your heels and took to flight, 66 “Priding yourself in serving the Sacred Mosque; at night you utter indecent stories in it, while discarding the truth.” 67 Why did they not think over the message? Or has something come to them which had not come to their fathers? 68 Or is it that they did not recognise their Noble Messenger, therefore they consider him alien? 69 Or do they say: There is madness in him? Nay! he has brought them the truth, and most of them are averse from the truth. 70 Had truth been subject to their whims the heavens and the earth and all those within them would have been depraved. In fact We had sent them their reminder, but they turned away from good advice. 71 Are you asking them for something? What Allah has given you is the best. He is the Best of providers. 72 And verily, thou callest them onto a straight way 73 And indeed those who do not believe in the Hereafter are deviated from the Straight Path. 74 ۞ And even if We gave them mercy and removed what was upon them of affliction, they would persist in their transgression, wandering blindly. 75 We already seized them with the chastisement, yet they abased not themselves to their Lord nor were they humble; 76 until We opened the gate of greater torment (death) and they suddenly found themselves in despair. 77
