HENCE, [remember how it was] when thy Sustainer summoned Moses: "Go unto those evil doing people. 10 The people of Fir'aun (Pharaoh). Will they not fear Allah and become righteous?" 11 He said, “My Lord, I fear that they will deny me.” 12 And my breast straiteneth, and my tongue moveth not quickly: so send for Harun. 13 They hold a sin against me, and I fear that they will kill me' 14 Allah said: "By no means! proceed then, both of you, with Our Signs; We are with you, and will listen (to your call). 15 Go to the Pharaoh and tell him: 'We bring a message from the Lord of all the worlds 16 Let the children of Israel go with us!'" 17 (Firon) said: Did we not bring you up as a child among us, and you tarried among us for (many) years of your life? 18 And you commited what you did, and you are ungrateful!" 19 (Moses) replied: "I did do that and I was in the wrong, 20 "So I fled from you (all) when I feared you; but my Lord has (since) invested me with judgment (and wisdom) and appointed me as one of the messengers. 21 And this is the favour with which you taunt me -- that you have enslaved the Children of Israel?" 22 Pharaoh said: "And what is the 'Lord and Cherisher of the worlds'?" 23 Moses said, "Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if only you would be convinced." 24 Pharaoh said to those around him, "Did you hear?" 25 Musa (Moses) said: "Your Lord and the Lord of your ancient fathers!" 26 Pharaoh said to the audience: "This Messenger of yours who has been sent to you is simply mad." 27 (Moses) said: "The Lord of the East and the Lord of the West and all that lies between them, if you have sense." 28 Pharaoh said: "If you take any god other than me, I will certainly make you one of those (who are rotting) in prison." 29 (Moses) said: "Even if I showed you something clear (and) convincing?" 30 [Pharaoh] answered: "Produce it, then, if thou art a man of truth!" 31 Then he cast down his staff, and lo! it was a serpent manifest. 32 And he drew forth his hand, and lo! it was white unto the beholders. 33
