Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha Mim 1 This (Qur’an) is sent down from the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. 2 a divine writ, the messages whereof have been clearly spelled out as a discourse in the Arabic tongue for people of [innate] knowledge, 3 Good tidings and a warning. But most of them turn away so that they hear not. 4 And they say, "Our hearts are encased against that to which you call us, and there is a heaviness in our ears, and there is a barrier between us, so do as you will and so shall we." 5 (Muhammad), say, "I am a mere mortal like you. I have received a revelation that your Lord is the only One. So be up-right and obedient to Him and seek forgiveness from Him. Woe to the pagans, 6 Those who do not give zakah, and in the Hereafter they are disbelievers. 7 (As for) those who believe and do good, they shall surely have a reward never to be cut off. 8
