Ad cried lies to the Envoys 123 Their brother Hud asked them, "Why do you not have fear of God? 124 "I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust: 125 So fear God and listen to me. 126 And I ask of you no hire therefor: my hire is but with the Lord of the worlds. 127 You construct monuments on every hill in vain, 128 and make for yourselves mighty castles, [hoping] that you might become immortal? 129 And will you [always,] whenever you lay hand [on others,] lay hand [on them] cruelly, without any restraint? 130 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 131 And be careful of (your duty to) Him Who has given you abundance of what you know. 132 Gave you increase of cattle and sons, 133 gardens, and springs. 134 I am afraid that you will suffer the torment of the Day of Judgment." 135 They said, "Whether you preach to us or not, 136 your preaching is nothing but ancient legends and we shall not face any torment". 137 "And we are not the ones to receive Pains and Penalties!" 138 And they denied him, so We destroyed them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 139 Verily your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate. 140
