۞ But We shall say, "Assemble those who did wrong together with their associates and what they worshipped 22 instead of God, and lead them all onto the way to the blazing fire, 23 and stop them there for questioning: 24 "Why help you not one another?" 25 Nay, but this day they make full submission. 26 And they will turn to one another, and question one another. 27 "It was you who tried to mislead us from righteousness". 28 The oppressors will say, "Rather, you [yourselves] were not believers, 29 We had no power over you, but ye were wayward folk. 30 The statement of Our Lord is realized against us, and we are tasting it, 31 "So we led you astray because we were ourselves astray." 32 And verily, on that Day they all will share in their common suffering. 33 Surely thus do We deal with the guilty. 34 Indeed, when it was said to them, “There is no God except Allah”, they were haughty. 35 saying, 'What, shall we forsake our gods for a poet possessed?' 36 Not in the least. He has brought the truth and confirmed the other messengers. 37 Verily, you (pagans of Makkah) are going to taste the painful torment; 38 and be rewarded only according to your deeds." 39 But for the sincere worshipers of Allah, 40 [in the hereafter,] theirs shall be a sustenance which they will recognize 41 a variety of delicious fruits; and they shall be honoured 42 in the Gardens of Bliss, 43 On thrones facing one another. 44 Round them will be passed a cup of pure wine; 45 White, delicious for the drinkers. 46 Free from headiness; nor will they suffer intoxication therefrom. 47 and with them wide-eyed maidens restraining their glances 48 [as free of faults] as if they were hidden [ostrich] eggs. 49 Then shall some of them advance to others, questioning each other. 50 And a speaker from among them will say: verily there was unto me a mate. 51 who would say: "Are you among the believers (of the resurrection)? 52 When we are dead and have become dust and bones, are we indeed going to be requited? 53 He said: 'Will you look down?' 54 And he will look and see him in the midst of the Hellfire. 55 And he will say: by Allah, thou hadst wellnigh causedest me to perish. 56 But for the Favor of Allah I should have surely been among those who were arraigned (with you in Hell). 57 But then, [O my friends in paradise,] is it [really] so that we are not to die 58 and that we would not be punished?" 59 Verily, this - this indeed - is the triumph supreme!" 60 It is for the like of this that all should strive. 61 Is that better as a hospitality, or the Tree of Ez-Zakkoum? 62 Verily, We have caused it to be a trial for evildoers: 63 Surely it is a tree that-grows in the bottom of the hell; 64 Its spathes are like the prickly pear. 65 (The people of Hell) will surely eat of it, filling their bellies with it. 66 And afterward, lo! thereupon they have a drink of boiling water 67 Then their return will be to the same blazing Hell. 68 Indeed they found their fathers astray. 69 and they run in their footsteps. 70 yet before them most of the ancients went astray, 71 although, verily, We had sent warners unto them: 72 Look, then how was the end of those who had been warned, 73 But not the chosen servants of Allah. 74
