▼ 37 The Arrangers
Al-Saaffaat 5 of 5
Jonah, too, was one of the Messengers. 139 When he ran away to a ship completely laden, 140 And then drew lots and was of those rejected; 141 The fish swallowed him up and he deserved (all this). 142 And had he not been one of those who glorify (Allah) 143 he would have tarried in its belly until the day they shall be raised; 144 ۞ But We cast him forth on the naked shore in a state of sickness, 145 And We caused to grow over him a tree, a gourd. 146 And We had sent him to a hundred thousand: rather they exceeded. 147 And they believed; so We gave them enjoyment for a while. 148 Now ask them whether your Lord has daughters, whereas they have sons. 149 Or did We create the angels females, while they were witnesses? 150 Lo! verily it is of their falsehood that they say: 151 “Allah has begotten.” They are liars! 152 Hath He chosen daughters above sons? 153 What aileth you? How judge ye? 154 Will you not then reflect? 155 Do you have clear authority? 156 Then bring your book, if you are truthful. 157 They assert kinship between Him and the angels. But the angels know that they (the liars) will be arraigned (in Hell). 158 limitless is God in His glory, above anything that men may devise by way of definition! 159 Except His chosen creatures who do not. 160 But as for you, and that you serve, 161 can cause anyone to fall prey to your temptation 162 except him who shall roast in Hell. 163 (Those ranged in ranks say): "Not one of us but has a place appointed; 164 We stand in ranks (for prayer) 165 Lo! we, even we are they who hymn His praise 166 They used to say: 167 "If we had a message from [those of] the former peoples, 168 Surely we would have been the bondmen of God sincere. 169 But when it came to them, they rejected it. They shall soon come to know (the end of such an attitude). 170 And certainly Our word has already gone forth in respect of Our servants, the apostles: 171 Most surely they shall be the assisted ones 172 and Our armies shall be the victors. 173 So turn away from them for a while. 174 And see [what will befall] them, for they are going to see. 175 Would they hasten on Our doom? 176 Then when it descendeth unto them face to face, a hapless morn that shall be for those who were warned. 177 Hence, turn thou aside for a while from them, 178 And see thou: they themselves shall presently see. 179 Glorified be thy Lord, the Lord of Majesty, from that which they attribute (unto Him) 180 And peace be unto those sent (to warn). 181 And Praise to Allah, the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds. 182
God Almighty has spoken the truth.

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
